The California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) expanded the CCPA significantly. Passed by California voters in November 2020 and effective January 2023, CPRA added protections for Sensitive Personal Information, created the California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA), introduced cybersecurity audit and privacy risk assessment requirements, and established new consumer rights including the right to correction and limits on sensitive data use.
